After a long month of silence, we have finished the implementation of the text styles. Ready internally since fall 2005, the text style proved a real challenge to make them easy to define and use in the GUI. We wanted both something rich (to benefit from our powerful text engine) yet not too different from what Microsoft Word users expect.
Works great, but I got some problems with the copy/paste from textboxes, if I do so, I loose the initial fonts and their sizes. Can you please fix this ?
Another thing : will it be possible to save a bounding box to pdf, not the entire page ?
Thanks for you work !
The copy/paste of text is currently implemented as a hack. We are working on this issue, but it is quite complicated to get right, more so now that we have text styles. Imagine what happens when you copy from one document with styles A, B and C and paste to another document with styles B, C and D. A has to be imported and B/C have to be reconciliated.
I'll see if we can do something for the PDF export. I guess that the simplest solution would be to just "clip" the output to a user provided rectangle. I don't promise any immediate progress on this area, however
Maybe you could export the bounding box as an eps file (I already suggested that format), you could then obtain pdf files very easily in the same time.
Another suggestion : your reply mode isn't very friendly here, the string we have to enter is sometimes very difficult to read.
I've talked to Daniel about this export issue. He won't be able to work on it in the near future, but we have taken notice of it.
And I am afraid that I can't change (or rather, that I don't know how to change) how the postings get validated with the spam-prevention image. This is a feature that I can either turn on or off at the blog engine level; and as past experiences have shown, turning it off floods the comments with useless crap...
If someone has any ideas of how to improve the readability of the Serendipity spam-prevention plug-in, let me know!
